托福阅读丨皮特曾写给朱莉的一封信

就在小编和长沙新航道的小伙伴们一起享受张家界之旅的时候，微博头条惊现好莱坞明星夫妻安吉丽娜·朱莉和布拉德·皮特宣布离婚的消息，震惊了无数中外小伙伴。

会想起2014年，皮特曾为朱莉写下一封催人泪下的情书。而今，文字的温度还在，但是夫妻两人却要分道扬镳……

今天的托福阅读栏目，我们一起来再读情书，回顾一下当年的两人……

“My wife got sick.

She was constantly nervous because of problems at work, personal life, her failures and problems with children.

She has lost 30 pounds and weighed about 90 pounds in her 35 years.

She got very skinny, and was constantly crying.

She was not a happy woman.

She had suffered from continuing headaches, heart pain and jammed nerves in her back and ribs.

She did not sleep well, falling asleep only in the morning and got tired very quickly during the day.

Our relationship was on the verge of break up.

Her beauty was leaving her somewhere, she had bags under her eyes, she was poking her head, and stopped taking care of herself.

She refused to shoot the films and rejected any role.

I lost hope and thought that we’ll get divorced soon…But then I decided to act on it.

After all I’ve got the most beautiful woman on the earth.

She is the idol of more than half of men and women on earth, and I was the one allowed to fall asleep next to her and to hug her shoulders.

I began to pamper her with flowers, kisses and compliments.

I surprised her and pleased her every minute. I gave her lots of gifts and lived just for her.

I spoke in public only about her.

I incorporated all themes in her direction. I praised her in front of her own and our mutual friends.

You won’t believe it, but she blossomed.

She became even better than before.

She gained weight, was no longer nervous and she loved me even more than ever.

I had no clue that she can love that much.

And then I realized one thing: The woman is the reflection of her man.

我的妻子生病了。

她总是处在一种紧张焦虑的状态中，担心着工作、个人生活、她在教育孩子过程中遇到的问题和失误。

在她35岁这一年，她瘦了30磅，体重只剩下90磅了。她变得骨瘦如柴，而且脸上总是挂着泪痕。

她过得并不开心，一直受到持续头痛、心脏痛的折磨；背部和肋骨的神经压迫无时无刻不困扰着她。

她根本没办法睡好，只有到清晨时才能勉强入睡，在白天很容易就感到十分疲惫。

我们的关系岌岌可危，几乎要分手。

从前的美艳似乎悄悄离她而去，她开始有眼袋，发线后退，而且她也不再精心打扮自己。

她拒绝接拍一切电影、推掉所有角色。

我几乎失去希望，我以为我们很快就要分开了。不过这之后，我决定积极面对。

不管怎么样，我已经拥有了这个世界上最美丽的女人。

这个世界上超过一半的人都视她为偶像；而我何其幸运，我是一个可以拥她入眠、把她抱入怀中的人。

我开始用鲜花、亲吻和赞美环绕着她；

每分每秒都给她惊喜；给她送了很多礼物，为她而活；在公开场合，我只谈论她；顺从她的意见；无论是在她面前还是在我们的朋友面前，我都毫无保留地赞美她。

你也许不会相信，不过她确实渐渐恢复生机，甚至比以前更好了。

她恢复了正常体重，不再时时刻刻都感到焦虑；比起以前，如今她爱我更深。

我做梦都没想到她能如此爱我。

然后我意识到一样东西：女人就像男人的镜子。
