【2013年9月14日北美托福考试听力机经回忆】
　1. 1.沙漠的成因 主要有三个，共同点是lack of moisture

　　听力：

　　1. 一个student去问professor关于law of diminishing的现实运用 然后professor举了一个tomato seed的例子 然后student说他和他打工的咖啡馆的boss在安排每个shift应该有多少个employee这个问题上有争议，他的boss要他安排4 people per shift, 他自己觉得2个人就够了，professor告诉他可能是他的boss另有安排

　　2. 一个女生去找librarian问能不能找到她的course packet里的一篇文章so she can read over the spring break. But her professor did not have anything in reserve so the librarian asked if she remembered the title of the paper so she said it has to do with marriage in ancient greece. librarian帮助她找到一篇文章title是marriage of ancient Greece但是女孩说这不是她要的那篇但是could help her write her paper.

　　3. Text关于niche constructions的 然后听力材料中举了个蚂蚁的例子说south america丛林中的一种蚂蚁需要某个specific kind of tree to build nest于是他们就会把靠近这种tree生长的植物poison到死来确保有足够的空间和nutrients for the trees to grow.

　　4. Art History class: 主要讲superrealism 举了两个artists的作品例子 具体不太记得清了

　　5. PSYCHOLOGY class：讲metacognition和associated brain structure. 然后举例了一个study就是叫一堆人去辨认两个screen上的patch哪一个比较亮 然后再问他们对自己的判断有多确定 结果显示metacognition强的人的brain tissue也比较发达(xxx prefrontal cortex)

　　(1)远离海岸的内陆沙漠 - 因为离海岸太远所以没有很多降水，这里举了Texas的三个城市的年均降水量为例

　　(2)在海岸线上的沙漠

　　(3)在mountain leeside的沙漠

　　2和3主要都是因为warm air is cooled and then rewarmed so that the capability of carrying water decreased造成humidity of air降低导致沙漠

　　2. 蜜蜂的social structure和communication

　　(1)only very few male honeybees, and their function is only to mate with the queen honeybee then they die after mating or after the mating season.

　　(2)工蜂的职责：刚mature时主要负责cleaning等，mature后要兼顾多项工作

　　(3) 蜜蜂的行为主要受到environment的影响和cues from other bees. 这里着重讲了蜜蜂怎么知道蜂巢的food storage是否短缺

　　这里问了一个词印象很深 explicit

　1. 问if you want to donate money to a charity in the community, which one would you prefer: (1)Environmental group (2) library (3) animal shelter

　　2. 女生说她的film study class明天要看最后一个film但是她有一个doctor appointment so she could not make it to the lecture but she really want to write her final paper on the last film because it interests her the most.

　　于是男生建议她去rent the film 但是女生说but she would miss the discussion on the second half of the class that her professor is very good at pointing out the techniques used, etc. 然后男生说那你可以写之前看的那些film啊 然后女生说但是这一部是最让我感兴趣的啊 i dont know what to do

　　1. 关于ancient kingdom Ophir是不是在South Asia

　　文章说Ophir是在south Asia主要有三个原因：(1)the major goods such as gems, rare woods, exotic animals from Ophir to Eastern Mediterranean at the time had origins in South Asia; (2) it took 1.5 years for traveling from Ophir to Eastern Mediterranean, which matches从south asia到东地中海的旅程;(3)ancient东地中海的语言中有一些词such as peacock之类的于当时南亚的语言中的词汇相似所以可能是从东亚随着货物流传过来的

　　听力中的Professor反驳了这些观点：

　　(1)Ophir could be the trading center at the time instead of being the production site/origins of the goods; (2) 古代的航海技术比较差，所以就算Ophir离东地中海并不远，需要1.5 yr的时间也是有可能的;(3)Similarity of few words does not give good evidence. 这里举例说英文和澳洲本土语言中DOG这个词是一样的但是古代England和Australia并没有交集，所以可能只是coincidence.

　　谁来告诉我一下这篇作文超字数了会扣多少分啊我好像写了330.。。。写完没时间删了 写了4年5pages paper的后遗症 哭~

　　2. Is it necessary for high school student to do household work after school. 这样是不是能帮助他们建立更多的responsibility. (美国人真的要be more responsible啊每次开学放假美国人不管多大只了都是爷爷奶奶爸爸妈妈全家出动帮搬家搬宿舍 妈蛋的当年谁说外国孩子独立能吃苦来着 哎呀又吐槽了说好要积德的呢
