  List

  1. Do you make a list when you shop?

Well, it depends, when I need to make a big purchase in a supermarket to buy some daily necessities, I’m gonna write a long shopping list in a memo. But if I just go for a convenience store run to buy some snacks, I don’t need a list.

  2. Do you make a list for your work? Does it work?

I do make a list of my work now and then. I have the bad habit of putting things off. Making a list actually helps me finish my work efficiently by prioritizing tasks. Finishing crucial tasks first thing in the morning will leave me with a sense of achievement.

  3. Why don’t some people like making lists?

Those people might think it’s too much trouble or they know that they won’t follow the list after all. I used to be that kind of person, but I’ve realized the importance of to-do list, it’s a great tool, but it needs to be organized a little rather than just writing down everything that needs to get done.

  4. Do you prefer to make a list on paper or on your phone?

I prefer to make a list on my phone. It’s handy. If I write it on a piece of paper. I might accidentally throw it away or maybe I forget to bring it with me. But my cell phone sticks with me all the time.

  闪光表达

  daily necessities 生活必需品

go for a convenience store run 去便利店跑个腿儿

  put things off  把事情推迟,拖延

  a sense of achievement  成就感

  stick with sb. 紧跟着某人

  Handwriting

  1. Do you often write with a pen?

I hardly write with a pen. Because with the advanced internet came the convenience of typewriting. I rely heavily on my cell phone and laptop. People send text messages now instead of writing a letter. And now most of the companies are going paperless.

  2. Can we tell someone’s personality from his or her handwriting?

We can’t. It’s hard to tell a person’s character through the appearance, not to mention handwriting. They say that you can’t judge a book by its’ cover, it’s the same, we can’t jump to conclusion about a person just because of a bad handwriting.

  3. What’s the difference of writing with a pen and typing on a computer?

It’s definitely faster to type on a computer. Especially now many software has the ability to correct spelling mistakes, which makes the whole work a lot easier. But it’s also a bad habit to rely heavily on this function. We may gradually forget how to spell certain words.

  4. Is your handwriting easy to read for another people?

Yeah, I think it is easy to read. Cause I don’t write like doctors whose handwritings are more like scribblings. Although I don’t have a neat handwriting, people can still understand it.

  闪光表达

  jump to conclusion 妄下结论

  scribbling 潦草的字迹

  a neat handwriting 整洁的字迹

  Concentration

  1. When do you need to be focused?

I need to concentrate when I’m working or watching TV series. But sometimes it’s hard for me to fully focus on something because social media is so handy and attractive these days.

  2. What may distract you when you’re trying to stay focused?

My cellphone. Like I always want to check my apps to see if I have any messages or scroll other people’s timelines to see if there’s something interesting going on. I just couldn’t help it.

  3. What do you do to help you concentrate?

Usually my idea of a break from work is checking Facebook or Instagram every ten minutes, so I will just turn off the network to block social media. This actually helps me concentrate.

  4. Is it difficult for you to stay focused on something?

Sometimes it’s hard to focus on my work. The sad fact is that it has become increasingly difficult to stay focused on the tasks because of the modern work environment. One reason is due to the fact that work interruptions are inevitable. From phone calls and emergency meetings to coworkers who want to have a chat and the latest time-sink that is social media, being interrupted at work has become part of the job.

  闪光表达

  scroll timelines 刷朋友圈,刷动态

  time-sink = time-consuming 费时间的
