  话题分析


  这是一道经历类话题,描述一个你最近做的好决定。


  在内容上,一个好的决定可大可小,只要你能自圆其说为什么这是个“好”决定都可以拿出来讲。但需注意题目要求的是“最近”做的决定,所以不要说自己小时候或者时间间隔太久远的经历。题目分解:


  问“What it was”,那个决定是什么?


  开门见山,直接回答你要描述的决定。决定可大可小,大到出国留学,去支教,减肥等,小到帮父母做家务,尝试新鲜事物。在构思这一问时同时考虑到后面的小问怎么回答,想清楚这个决定好的理由。


  第二问“When and where you made it”,你在何时何地做了决定?


  如果是受某人或某事的影响导致你做出了这个决定,那在回答何时何地做出决定以外可以详细描述从有想法到做决定的经过。比如在医院体检完决定减肥,听完朋友在偏远地区支教的经历你也决定去等等。如果是比较小的决定如做家务,认真学习之类的可以节省这一问的篇幅。


  第三问“What was the results”,结果如何?


  因为是最近做的决定,如果是大决定多半还没有完成,可以讨论身边的人对这个决定的评价,或是在实现过程中自己遇到的困难和收获;如果是小决定应该已经完成了,可以谈做完这件事后结果对你生活造成什么影响,和没做之前有何变化。


  第四问“Explain why it was a good decision”,它为什么是个好的决定?


  可以从两方面入手,一方面是这个决定本身好,比如改掉一个坏习惯(拖延、不健康的作息、戒烟酒、减肥);另一方面可以是决定本身是中立的没有好坏,但是在尝试去做了这件事之后发现有收获从而认为是好的决定,比如尝试新鲜事物、学习一项新技巧等。

  The good decision I made recently is to quit my unhealthy diet. I am a huge fan of sweet food including all kinds of soft drinks and desserts. In recent years, the prevalence of bubble tea in China has made young generations more addicted to sweet food and high sugar diet. However, I do have a slim body shape thanks to the weight lifting I do every day. Plus, due to my young age, I always believe my metabolism is high enough to burn the calories I intake.


  The reason why I actually made this decision is that my annual physical examination report showed my visceral fat level was about to reach the warning line. That totally surprised me because related disease such as fatty liver could usually be found only on middle aged people. For health concern, I made a specific plan to quit drinking bubble tea and intake as little sugar as possible.


  Executing the decision was much harder than I thought. With less sugar in my diet, I often feel a lack of energy and became emotionally unstable. My friend taught me that sugar can promote the secretion of dopamine which is in charge of motivation. My addiction to sugar breaks the balance of the reward system in my brain and I should remedy it gradually. After realising this concept, I adjusted my plan to a slower pace, removing the amount of sugar from my diet bit by bit. After persisting for the past few weeks, I can clearly feel less relied on sugar. I am glad that I have made such a good decision that gives me a healthier life.
