    Question

Your professor is teaching a class on society. Write a post responding to the professor's question.
In your response, you should do the following.
    Express and support your opinion.
Make a contribution to the discussion in your own words.
An effective response will contain at least 100 words.

    Doctor. Achebe
This week, we discussed the importance of role models in society. One idea we discussed was the widespread impact of “influencers.” Influencers are people who are very active posting on social media and who have many followers. Influencers’ posts and opinions can influence their followers’ choices on everything from fashion to politics. In your opinion, do social media influencers generally have a positive or negative effect on their followersWhy do you think so?

    Claire
I think the influencers’ effect is generally positive. People can learn about the latest trends and topics in a very quick and efficient way by following influencers. In the past, people had to spend time looking through magazines or visiting boutiques to even know what was trending.

    Paul
I think influencers generally have a negative effect because they have far too much influence. I can think of one influencer who only has to mention a particular kind of sports shoes, and the next day they’ll be sold out. The followers aren’t really thinking for themselves; they’re just blindly following their influencers’ choices.

In my view, social media influencers generally exert a negative influence on their followers. This is because online personalities often operate within profit-driven relationships in the business world, where biased opinions and information gaps prevent followers from gaining real benefits.【表语从句+非限制性定语从句】Take, for example, an internet celebrity promoting skincare products on her YouTube channel. Like most influencers who earn a living through brand sponsorships, she must comply with the terms of her contracts. To increase commissions from product sales, she occasionally exaggerates how a newly released product impressively blocks UV rays and deeply moisturizes the skin, while deliberately downplaying the potential harm of certain chemicals or allergens.【不定式短语+宾语从句+分词短语】As a result, unaware fans and viewers who watch the video clip may be persuaded to purchase the product, only to receive something flawed.【限制性定语从句+不定式短语】In the end, they might discover that the product fails to retain skin moisture and even triggers irritations, leading to unexpected discomfort and medical expenses.【宾语从句+分词短语】Therefore, due to their commercial interests and often selective presentation of facts, social media influencers tend to affect their followers adversely.

“To increase commissions from product sales, she occasionally exaggerates how a newly released product impressively blocks UV rays and deeply moisturizes the skin, while deliberately downplaying the potential harm of certain chemicals or allergens.”

“As a result, unaware fans and viewers who watch the video clip may be persuaded to purchase the product, only to receive something flawed.”
Many social media influencers are paid to promote products and services on platforms like Instagram and YouTube.
The article was criticized for being biased against the company.
He earns a living by teaching.
The YouTuber makes money through ads and sponsorships.
Wearing seatbelts in a car is required to comply with traffic laws.
She earns a commission on every sale she makes.
In his storytelling, he often exaggerates the details for dramatic effect.
    He deliberately ignored my advice.
The manager downplayed the impact of the recent changes on the team.
The weather has adversely affected the crop yield this year.
