My first time trying hotpot really made a deep impression on me. To be more specific, it was Chongqing hotpot, which is one of the most spicy types of hotpot. For locals, it is regarded as a kind of soul food. To have hotpot, you just need to choose whatever ingredients you like, put them in the boiling pot and when they are done, dip them in the sauce like sesame sauce and then eat it.
It was back in probably 2017, I went on a trip to Chongqing along with my friends. I'm a spicy food lover, so I'd been looking forward to trying the most authentic Chongqing hotpot. But the fact was that I overestimated my tolerance for spicy food. I ordered the most spicy soup with lots of chilies and peppers. So after my first bite, my mouth was like on fire and felt numb at the same time. it was so painful and then I drank a lot of iced juice to release the pain. But I have to admit that Chongqing hotpot is really tasty and flavorful as although I was kind of struggling over there, I couldn't stop myself from taking a second bite.
