Chinese president arrives in Sochi for opening ceremony of Winter Olympics

Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Sochi to attend Friday's opening ceremony of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Russia.
中国国家主席习近平已抵达索契出席第22届冬季奥运会在俄罗斯周五的开幕式。

He is also expected to visit the Chinese sports delegation and meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Sochi.
他还将访问中国体育代表团在索契会见俄罗斯总统弗拉迪米尔普京。

This is the first time a Chinese president attends an overseas sports event.
这是次来中国国家主席出席海外的体育盛会。

Incidentally, this is also the second year running that President Xi has chosen Russia as the first country to visit in the new year.
顺便说一句，这也是连续第二年主席选择俄罗斯作为个国家在新的一年的访问。

Experts say President Xi's visit shows the great importance the Chinese Government attaches to the Olympic Games, and it also underlines the significance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Russia.
专家说，习主席的来访显示了高度重视，中国政府高度重视奥运会，而且还强调，中国和俄罗斯之间的全面战略伙伴关系的重要意义。

The Winter Olympics will be held from February 7th to the 23rd in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi.
冬奥会将于2月7日举行的第23届索契黑海度假城市。
