最近,有同学问了这样一道题“Describe a businessman that you admire”。

You should say:

How you got to know this person

And explain what you know about the business
I’m going to tell you a bit about my grandmother. Unfortunately, I hardly knew her as she passed away when I was at primary school. But my dad - who she raised single-handedly at the same time as she was managing her company - is always singing her praises.
Granny was definitely not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She left school barely literate and got a dead-end job doing laundry in a posh hotel. But she was smart and learned quickly. After she’d been there a while, she talked one of the managers into lending her some cash to set up her own launderette.
She’d realized that middle-class families would be willing to pay to have their dirty clothes collected, cleaned, ironed and delivered back to their doors. She’d spotted a gap in the market.
She was a born entrepreneur and she flourished. Everything she touched turned to gold. By the time she retired, she had a dozen stores and was selling franchises. But what I admire is not just her grit, determination and talent. What’s most amazing about her is that she never forgot her roots. She gave about half of her profits to charities which help single mothers living in poverty to set up in business. That’s why I look up to her.
