第四段
①Dr. Simonsohn found if the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one 17 that, then the score for the next applicant would 18 by an average of 0.075 points. ②This might sound small, but to 19 the effects of such a decrease a candidate could need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been 20 .
①Dr. Simonsohn found if the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one 17 that, then the score for the next applicant would 18 by an average of 0.075 points.
Dr. Simonsohn found if the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than that of the one 17 that, then the score for the next applicant would 18 by an average of 0.075 points.
if the score of the previous candidate in a daily series of interviewees was 0.75 points or more higher than ①that(score) of the one 17 ②that(the previous candidate),
这里的the previous candidate的previous是站在C的角度来看的,the previous candidate就是B,而the one 17 that就是A,C就是下一个要去面试的。
所以,17就是A(第一个面试者)。
17. A. before B. after C. above D. below
【逻辑梳理】这里是说,A、B、C三人去面试,而B的得分比A高0.75分,或者更高,比如:A得2分,那么,B就得2.75+分。
主句部分:then the score for the next applicant would 18 by an average of 0.075 points
18. A. jump上升 B. float漂浮 C. drop下降 D. fluctuate波动
②This might sound small, but to 19 the effects of such a decrease a candidate could need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been 20 .
【逻辑分析】this指“drop by an average of 0.075 points”,所以,逻辑一致。
This might sound small, but to 19 the effects of such a decrease a candidate could need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been 20 .
① This might sound small,即:这0.075分的下降,听起来很小。
② to 19 the effects of such a decrease a candidate could need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been 20 .
to部分是目的状语,such a decrease指0.075分的下降。
19. A. achieve实现 B. undo消除 C. maintain维持 D. disregard忽略
主句部分:a candidate could need 30 more GMAT points than would otherwise have been 20 .
总结:第四段是说,用例子来证明第一段的第三句话的,③But Dr. Uri Simonsohn speculated that an inability to consider the big 3 was leading decision-makers to be biased by the daily samples of information they were working with.
