《寻梦环游记》以墨西哥的亡灵节为故事背景，而电影中的这位女艺术家大家还有印象吗，特别是这引人注目的一字眉？她的原型是墨西哥著名的女艺术家——弗里达·卡罗。今天我们就来看看弗里达这充满了苦痛却又绚烂的一生。

　　“Born to a German father and a mestiza (女混血儿) mother, Kahlo spent most of her childhood and adult life at her family home in Coyoacán, La Casa Azul. She was left disabled by polio (小儿麻痹症) as a child, and at the age of eighteen was seriously injured in a traffic accident which caused her pain and medical problems for the rest of her life. Although art had been Kahlo's hobby throughout her childhood, she began to entertain the idea of becoming an artist.

　　Kahlo was also interested in politics, and in 1927 joined the Mexican Communist Party. Through the Party she met the celebrated muralist Diego Rivera. They were married in 1928, and remained a couple until Kahlo's death. The relationship was volatile (不稳定的) due to both having extramarital affairs (婚外情).”

　　18岁，遭遇严重的车祸，肩膀脱臼，锁骨、肋骨、腿骨断裂，另一只脚粉碎性骨折，脊椎与盆骨断裂成三块，失去生育能力，三十二次手术后奇迹般苏醒并立志成为画家。

　　22岁，嫁给年长她21岁的墨西哥壁画家迭戈·里维拉，成为他的第三任妻子，从此开始了一段相互折磨的爱情故事。弗里达说：“我一生遇到过两次致命的打击，一次是车祸，一次是迭戈。”

　　“She painted many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Inspired by the country's popular culture, she employed a folk art (民间艺术) style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism (后殖民主义), gender, class (阶级), and race in Mexican society. Her paintings often had strong autobiographical (自传体的) elements and mixed realism with fantasy.”

　　弗里达·卡罗绘一生创作了大约两百件作品，灵感主要来源于墨西哥的自然及人文，她也将自己所有的情感、痛楚都倾诉在画中，它们构筑了其生活的世界，爱情的痛苦，内心的纠结，也还原了墨西哥艰难的成长。

　　下面这幅《亨利·福特医院》1932年创作于底特律，正值弗里达流产后。她将自己画成蜷缩的模样以展现她经历的痛苦，红丝带代表脐带，一个男胎漂浮在上面，蜗牛代表手术进行得非常缓慢，女性的腹部和盆骨图案代表18岁时经历的那场车祸，床下衰败的兰花象征子宫。

　　“The legacy of Kahlo cannot be underestimated or exaggerated. It likely that every female artist making art since the 1950s will quote her as an influence, but it is not only artists and those who are interested in art that she inspires. Her art also supports people who suffer as a result of an accident, as a result of miscarriage, and as a result of a failed marriage. Through imagery, Kahlo articulated (铰接) experiences so complex, making them more manageable and giving viewers hope that they can endure, recover, and start again. Kahlo made it legitimate (合理的) for women to outwardly display their pains and frustrations and to thus take steps towards understanding them.”

　　作为一名画家，她无疑是成功的；更令后人触动的是，在遭遇了一系列常人眼中的不幸后：天生残疾、遭遇车祸、三次流产、婚姻不美满，她依然积极生活，重新出发，也帮助众多女性意识到：痛苦和沮丧是可以袒露从而克服的。

　　弗里达离世前八天，完成了她的最后一幅作品，那是一幅鼓舞人心的画作，看似简单，实则蕴含的情感非常复杂。起初这幅画叫《西瓜》，后来却因西瓜上的一句话而出名：“VIVA LA VIDA”生命万岁！
