    Question

Your professor is teaching a class on business. Write a post responding to the professor’s question.
In your response, you should do the following.
    Express and support your opinion.
Make a contribution to the discussion in your own words.
An effective response will contain at least 100 words.

    Doctor Gupta
We’ve been discussing the process of starting a new business and one of the most critical aspects of this process is staffing. That is, deciding which people to hire. Please discuss the following question: Is it better for new businesses to hire experienced veterans of the industry or to staff the business with younger employees who are right out of university Why do you think so?

    Claire
I think a company should staff a business with the most experienced employees possible. If you’re starting a new business, you need people around you who know what they are doing and can quickly get the business up to speed. Spending time training inexperienced people will slow you down.

    Paul
I understand what Claire is saying, but if you are starting a new business, you want people who are particularly enthusiastic and energetic. Who better than a recent graduate to bring those qualities to the job You would be guaranteed an ambitious hard worker.

Hiring both seasoned industry veterans and recent university graduates is a more strategic choice for new businesses. One reason is that it enhances a start-up’s potential for growth and profitability by leveraging the strengths of both groups. For instance, start-up companies usually face challenges in management and corporate structuring. Inefficient decision-making and poor execution can result in missed market opportunities, while underdeveloped corporate policies and managerial shortcomings may cause inconsistent administrative practices and internal conflicts. However, by bringing in knowledgeable employees, start-ups can benefit from their specialized expertise and industry connections, optimizing decision-making processes and swiftly establishing effective corporate policies, thereby minimizing the costs of trial and error.【介词短语+分词短语】Meanwhile, fresh graduates typically have a spirit of innovation and strong adaptability to emerging technologies and novel ideas. Their keen awareness of social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram enables them to create trend-driven content that resonates with modern consumers. Consequently, hiring young staff not only helps new ventures tap into new markets and cater to younger demographics but also reduces labor costs due to their relatively lower salaries. 【动名词作主语+not only...but also... Therefore, a balanced recruitment strategy that integrates both experienced professionals and fresh graduates【定语从句】can significantly enhance a new company’s prospects for long-term success.

“However, by bringing in knowledgeable employees, start-ups can benefit from their specialized expertise and industry connections, optimizing decision-making processes and swiftly establishing effective corporate policies, thereby minimizing the costs of trial and error.”

    【动名词作主语+not only...but also...
“Consequently, hiring young staff not only helps new ventures tap into new markets and cater to younger demographics but also reduces labor costs due to their relatively lower salaries.”
