昨天看《生活大爆炸》也看到这个单词了，Penny力挺男友Leonard当主席时，用过这个表达。
    —Leonard：who the new president should be. I nominate myself.
    新主席应该让谁来当？我提名我自己 。
    —Penny：I second it.Well, as a woman in love, I want to stand by my man.
    我赞成。身为一个恋爱中的女人，我想支持我的男人。
    “I second it ”是一种外国人经常使用的表达，相当于我们中文常说的“+1”或者“臣附议”又或者“俺也一样”，有一点点抖机灵的意思在。

    除了第二，second还有哪些意思？
    作为序数词，“second”除了我们常说的“第二”这个意思，还可以表示“另一个”或者“每隔一个”。
    例：Richard and Liz have a second home in the mountains.
    理查德和莉兹在山区还有一个家。
    此外，作为动词，“second”还有“（临时）调任，调派”的意思。
    例：During the dispute, many police officers were seconded from traffic duty to the prison service.
    在争端期间，很多警察从交通管理岗位上被抽调出来，派去监狱。
    作为名词，“second”有“秒”的意思，也可以指“片刻；瞬间”。（这个大家应该比较熟悉）
    例：These computers process millions of instructions per second.
    这些电脑每秒钟处理几百万个指令。

    1、second best 第二好的，仅次于最好的
    例：She refuses to settle for second best - she strives for perfection.
    她不甘第二，努力做到最好。

    2、second to none 与其他一样好的；比其他好的
    例：The conditions that these prisoners are kept in are second to none.
    这些犯人的关押环境是最好的。

    3、second cousin 父母的堂（或表）兄弟姐妹的子女
    例：The two were also second cousins on their fathers' side.
    这两人也是他们父亲的表兄妹。

    4、second nature 第二天性；习性
    例：I used to hate computers, but using them is second nature to me now.
    我曾经讨厌电脑，但现在使用电脑成为了我的习惯。

    5、second thought 重新考虑；改变主意；开始怀疑；转念一想
    例：Can I have a cup of coffee, please? - actually, on second thoughts, I'll have a beer.
    请来杯咖啡——说实话，我改主意了，来杯啤酒好了。

    6、second wind 恢复的力量（或精力）
    例：We started to feel we couldn't walk any further but when we saw the town in the distance we got our second wind.
    我们开始感到累得走不动了，但看到远处的村庄时，我们又有了前进的力量。

    7、second-guess 猜测；预言/事后批评
    例：She's always trying to second-guess the boss.
    她老是试图揣测老板的意图。

    8、second sight  先见之明；预见力
    例：She always believes her mother has the second sight.
    她一直相信自己的妈妈有先见之明。

    9、second-hand   二手的；旧的
    例：This bike is second-hand but it's still in good condition.
    这辆自行车是二手货，但车况还不错。

    10、without a second though   不假思索
    second thought是“重新考虑” , 前面加without ，意思变成：“没有再重新考虑” 所以，它常常指：立即马上，不假思索地。
    例：He dived in after her without a second thought.
    他不假思索地随她跳入水中。

    11、second class
    1）作形容词表示：（人）次要的
    例：Women are still treated as second class citizens in some countries.
    在一些国家女性仍然被当作二等公民对待。
    2）作名词表示：（飞机或火车的）二等座位
    例：Second class is at the rear of the train.
    二等车厢在火车尾部。
